I love the Kodama from Princess Mononoke so much.

But I also equally love all the Totoros too, so maybe I’ll cheat and say I adore the forest spirits in general. C:

These little guys though are just adorable. I love how tiny they are, the way they tilt and turn their heads, going ka-klinka-klunk, their weird fricking faces that had the right balance of creepy and endearing and how they moved about in the trees- all skipping in a line when they helped Ashitaka get through the forest. In addition, I really liked what they symbolised; their presence meant the abundance of purity and prosperity in the forest. Their small, child-like appearance sort of represented that innocence and obscurity of those forests untouched by man. They were the pureness and beauty of nature.
